  • Music is Medicine Workshop

The ‘Music is Medicine Workshop’ consists of 3 mentors and spans over the course of 4 days, Focusing not only on music alone, but also includes the aspects of storytelling through various mediums. Music, Sound design, Writing, Filmmaking, and at the end a Performance to wrap it all up. In traditional indigenous societies of the Western Hemisphere, being an Orator was held in high regards. We focus on helping each individual share their stories with the creative outlets provided. With a deep sense of cultural empowerment we strive to help our people learn to express themselves in a heathy environment.

 Workshop Goals and Objectives

‘Music is Medicine’ is an all Indigenous collective of artists, filmmakers and sound engineers. The collectives purpose is to work with Native communities across North America. Our youth and young adults suffer from the lack of access to adequate resources regarding mental health. Having the outlet to express themselves through our workshop allows the youth a safe space. A lot of our nations suffer from high suicide rates, food deserts that lead to health problems, traumatic deaths involving drugs and alcohol, all factor into our generational trauma.

Our goal is to deepen understanding through collaboration, to have our attendees tap into their creative side, and explore new ways to articulate their thoughts through the arts mentioned. Empowering collective efforts to make transformative change happen within our Tribal communities.

The workshop is able to accommodate youth through young adults, 6 grade to early 20’s.

Capacity 1 - 20 persons.
